A Form of Flattery

Mendenhall Afterglow

This is my first attempt at merging twilight and star photography in a variation on a technique that I learned from NPN member Floris van Breugel. I made a series of exposures of a single composition over the course of nearly two hours. Even though there appeared to be no stars in the portion of sky I was photographing into the late night, the camera recorded a ton of them (much to my surprise). In the end I chose three exposures to blend into this final image. The beautiful light from long after sunset was a real treat as I waited for night to fall. This definitely won’t be my last effort to make the most of this photographic potential. Thanks for checking in.
